Built in 1852, six years before West Point, MS was incorporated (1958), the OldBrame House started as a two-room, segregated cottage located inwestern-most part of Lowndes County. The cottage was a temporary residencefor both George Brame, owner, and the builders of Elmview Mansion. AfterElmview Mansion was complete, the cottage became a building on ElmviewPlantation.According to the National Historic Register and historian Joan Embree, the OldBrame House is believed to be the oldest home in West Point-built the sameyear that Waverly Mansion and the Moss-Jones House were completed and ayear before Elmview Mansion was completed.The first recorded mention of the Old Brame House.....
